Oral storytelling often features simpler structures, repetitive phrases, and rhythmic patterns to aid memorization and delivery while written story can utilize complex narrative structures, detailed descriptions, and varied literary techniques, allowing for deeper exploration of themes and characters. The characters in oral storytelling can be brought to life through voice, tone, and physical presence, adding depth to their portrayal while written storytelling relies more on descriptive language and internal monologues to convey character emotions and thoughts, allowing for nuanced development. The pace can be adjusted on the spot for oral storytelling with the storyteller using pauses and emphasis to enhance the narrative while for written storytelling, pacing is determined by the reader, who can choose to pause, reread, or skip sections as they wish.
